Your foreign documents, ordered and translated for you
This is the step that wastes the most time: recent documents, in the right format, apostilled or legalised, then translated. We take care of it.
The common rules
- Originals only, less than 6 months old. Photocopies are not accepted and originals are not returned.
- Apostille if the country has signed the Hague Convention, otherwise legalisation by the country’s ministry of foreign affairs.
- Translation into French, German or Italian for any document written in another language.
- If the office has doubts about a document, it can request verification by the Swiss embassy, at the couple’s expense.
Multilingual extracts
Some countries issue multilingual civil status extracts (CIEC Convention No. 16), such as Portugal and Serbia. They do not need an apostille and, in principle, no translation. We check whether the office accepts them for your file.
